Why Different Dog Breeds Need Different Training

Dogs are a man’s best friend for a reason. They are loyal, loving, and always happy to see us. However, not all dogs are the same. Each breed of dog has its own unique needs and personality. That is why it is so important to find the right dog training program for your specific pet.

Rocky Mountain K9 offers a variety of different services that will cater to the needs of your specific breed of dog. We understand that no two dogs are alike, and we have the experience and expertise to provide the perfect training program for each one!

In this blog, we’ll discuss why different dog breeds need different training and how you can find the right program for your dog!

No Two Dogs Are Alike

As we said before, no two dogs are alike. Each breed of dog has its own set of unique traits and personality quirks. For example, some breeds of dogs are more active than others. Some breeds are also more prone to certain types of behavior problems, such as barking or chewing.

For example, Golden Retrievers are often found to be very trainable and eager to please. Border collies are also found to learn remarkably fast.  On the other hand, some breeds like hounds are less responsive to traditional methods and require a different approach.

When it comes to training, it is important to find a program that takes these individual differences into account. A one-size-fits-all approach simply will not work. You need a program that is specifically designed for your dog’s needs.

Not only do some dog breeds need different training for certain behaviors, but also the length of time for training a dog needs can differ.  Some dog breeds are quick learners, while others may need more time to learn the same commands.

Different Breeds Need Different Training Methods

Because each breed of dog is so unique, different breeds will respond better to different methods. For example, some dogs are visual learners and will respond best to visual cues. Other dogs are more responsive to verbal commands.

At Rocky Mountain K9, we offer a variety of different training programs. We have programs for puppies, adult dogs, and even seniors! We also offer behavior modification programs for dogs with specific behavior problems.

Training Programs

Rocky Mountain K9 offers three different training programs that may just be perfect for your dog and their needs. If none of these training programs are what your dog needs, you may also consult with our trainers and find the right program for your dog.

The three different training programs are as follows:

1. Recall E-Collar Training and Leash Walking

Most dogs struggle with 2 core obedience commands, come and leash walking. I’m sure you have been behind a leash getting dragged or have run down your street trying to catch your dog who just busted through the door. This is a 6 Day e-collar training in which we can teach your dog to heal and come every single time you say.

2. Total E-Collar Board and Train

Our 14-day training includes seven of the most common issues we see in every dog: come, heal, sit, down, place, off, and leave it.  After this comprehensive training schedule you can rest assure that your dog can be trusted in any public space and in what matters most, your own home.

3. Advanced Total E-Collar Board and Train

This 30 day training is one of the most popular packages because it gives the trainers more time to get know your dog’s personality and adapt the training to exactly what your dog needs. This program covers everything your dog will need in order to behave in every situation and for anyone.
